Our results support the view that perfor-mance measurement diversity benefits performance as we find that, regardless of strategy, firms with more extensive per¬form¬ance meas¬urement systems – especially those that in-clude objective and subjective nonfinancial measures – have higher perform¬ance. A key part of our investigation is the distinction between financial and both objective and subjective nonfinancial measures. We examine the relationship between qual¬ity-based manu¬facturing strategy and the use of differ¬ent types of performance meas¬ures, as well as their separate and joint effects on performance.
